The Rowing Season

Topeka Rowing competes in the Midwest Region of United States Rowing along with other crews from Kansas City, St. Louis, Omaha, Denver, Wichita, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, Houston, Des Moines, Waterloo, Iowa City, Quad Cities, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Duluth, etc.

The racing season begins in late September at The Head of the Des Moines with most races in the 5000 meter range. We race here the second Saturday on October at The Homecoming Regatta and the very next day in Kansas City at The American Royal Fall Classic. We end racing in early November with The Frostbite Regatta in Wichita. When the winter gets too cold to be on the water, the crews go inside for winter and ergometer training which ends at The Kansas Indoor Rowing Championships.

The spring rowing season finds competition during spring break through the time school is out. National Championships are in the summer. Our summer racing culminates with The Royal Canadian Henley Regatta at St. Catharines, Ontario.

Topeka Rowing hosted the 1998 U.S. Rowing Masters National Championships.
